Artistic Classic Interior
“Elegance, balmy and respects,” said people when visiting Pohan dwelling. Pohan and his wife have hobby to search unique and exclusive things at flea market in every country that he visited. Formerly, Pohan family lived in New England, USA. At this neighborhood, there are a lot of antique house in Queen Anne architectural. This architecture design became inspiration for Pohan to organize his interior home design. So, don’t surprise if you find half of his furniture collection in Neo Classic European Style, like deep buttoned chesterfield sofa, and leather armchair. Besides sofas that full of ornaments, the owner also have high quality art like painting by Renoir, and crystal vas in classic style.
Building and Interior Concept
When designed his house, the owner have same taste with the architect, Muji Raharjo. They agreed to arrange dwelling concept in classic modern style. Because, classic modern style of architecture is eternal and full of personal touch. At first, old building unloaded and new design created, floor base boosted up until 1.5 meter from street. The basement designed to became services area, garage, musholla (small building or room set aside in a public place for performance of religious duties), and useful room.
The façade has simple design with simple ornament which dominated off white color. At surrounding, big tree planted to make the yard become shaded and chilly. Floor base ordered for semi public area like living room, formal room, dining room. Second floor ordered for private area, like family room, working room, bedroom, and also library. The interior design adopted Classic European Style, dominated with furniture on Queen Anne Style, and Art collection in Rococo and Baroque nuance.
For the furniture’s, dining room arranged with D end table and Chippendale chairs which have red chocolate color. At private area, wing chair influenced with Queen Anne style. Working room arranged with working chair which have high back and medium chair supported by wheel.
Building elements which become classic style characteristic applied, like proportion system, symmetric order, and repeating pattern. This concepts seems formal and ordered. Some classic European style have modified like vertical lines motif at half of wallpaper which gave dynamic impression for the room.
Art Collection
To complete the interior, owner has mixed Queen Anne furniture with classic art stuff, like paint, statue, and accessories from Rococo Era. Beside of that, there are paintings in Baroque Style which have supple appearance, pale color, and have romantic love theme
Renoir’s painting decorated foyer and family room. Pierre-Auguste Renoir is artist who lived at 19th century, from France, often painted activities and people at the neighborhood, like oil painting titled Luncheon of the Boating Party, 1881. This paint tells us about Renoir and friends who relaxed at Maison Fournaise balcony.
