Minimalist Exterior Modern Wooden House Design
This modern residence has orients to garden surrounding that have beautiful landscape. The house’s dynamic modern form opens through a glass atrium on the north and glass curtain walls on the northwest and southwest. More than that, a simple and modern design make this house feel minimalist, but landscape surround it make this house feel rich with fresh relaxing ambience.
Exterior materials including natural wood panels, the texture of beveled siding, powder-coated steel railings and Portland cement stucco reduce the scale of the house and accent the open glass walls and soaring spaces within. Large roof overhangs encourage the use of the outside decks around the house and a large glass, steel, and wood trellis roof at the entry allows the eating deck to be used even in the rain. Interior materials include carbonized bamboo floors, clear Douglas Fir trim and cabinetry, stone tile, Venetian plaster accent walls, and many custom features.
The exterior forms are tailored to an interior designed to recognize the hierarchy of spaces within the house. Natural daylight is brought through the house to the lowest level through open second and third floors and a large skylight above. The main floor was designed as an open space with built-in cabinetry, double French doors from the kitchen to the front eating deck, a separate living room alcove for entertainment, an office or sitting area, and a large living room deck facing views to the southwest. The ceilings of the upper floor start at a standard eight foot height at halls and bathrooms and slope to almost thirteen feet at the glass window wall of the master bedroom and front bedroom suites, capturing views of the sky as well as land and water. I love the look of this home. I really love the glass curtain wall and how much light it lets in. They have a really useful listing of all the construction products and manufacturers on the market, and even offer great CAD details that you can download. Though I work for them, I honestly use them for all my home improvement projects and found them to be an invaluable help.
